I am a mother of three children (Epiphany, Jayvyn, & Jalen) and a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Housed in the department of Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership, I focus on History of Education, Higher Education, and African-American Studies. My research interests include Black women’s higher education, activist scholars, student affairs in community college contexts, Black feminisms, & oral history. I am most interested in issues of equity, agency, and thriving in education. I am a proud graduate of Fayetteville Technical Community College (A.A.S. Respiratory Care, General Education), Fayetteville State University (B.A. History), & the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (Ed.M. Education Policy, Organization, & Leadership).
